Band

Band

The Varsity Band is full of deeply dedicated students who have a love for music. These students spend much of their time in rehearsals becoming leaders, synergized and equal. We perform at football games, marching competitions, solo auditions, parades, and more throughout the year. Schedules are packed with many events in any season, which makes this group become such a close "family."

Winds Section

This is where the sound of music is made. The songs wouldn't be possible without having the sounds of every individual combined and executed in such an eloquent style. There are a variety of woodwinds and brass to choose from. Several students play more than one instrument. There is no limit to how many wind players can perform, so there's always room for more! No experience is required, but understand with no experience it may take a while to learn enough to read and play well.

Drum Section

The technical rhythms you hear among the winds section are given by the drum line. It takes a lot of concentration and effort to make the best of the rhythms. Along with performing with the winds, the drums also perform Cadences, which feature only the drum section. To be in the drum section, you must have prior experience reading rhythms. Only a select few can perform with this group on the field, but there are plenty of other options in the percussion section in what is called the "pit."

Color Guard Section

Giving the best visual performance for the halftime show, this group takes the lead in making what we all do look spectacular. The color guard performs with a variety of flags, and with rifles or sabers. The beautiful uniforms and equipment make for a show of its own. Routines are learned to every song performed. This is a difficult task and requires more practice outside of the typical band practices. The color guard members must have prior experience, or intend to gain it, on an instrument for the football stands, as well as for the concert season.
